Product Name Parker 51 Vacumatic, Full Size. Both pieces have the "coin silver" cap, which is unmarked .900 silver, and rhodium plated. The plating often didn't hold up well and denting is quite common in the soft silver metal. The "coin silver" cap is a little uncommon.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1944 (The date code is 4 with three dots).
Length The fountain pen is 5-7/16", and the mechanical pencil is 5-3/16".
Filling System Vacumatic (piston/plunger) filling system. We've fully restored it in house with a new diaphragm, and it's working very well. We guarantee the filling system for a year from the date of purchase. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads, and it working well.
Color Dove Gray bodies with "coin silver" caps - the caps are made of .900 silver (unmarked, but mentioned on this Parker 51 page), which has a pattern of groups of 7 lines, a space, and then a single line. Gold plated clips, and the pen has a blue diamond. Pearlescent cap jewels.
Nib FINE gold nib.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. Fountain pen: The section has moderate scratching caused by capping. The clutch ring looks good. The barrel has light scratching. The surface of the cap has light scratching, and there are some shiny marks and scuffing. There are some tiny touches of corrosion around the cap lip. The clip has plating wear and some pitting all over. The clip ring has plating wear. The blue diamond looks great. The pearlescent cap jewel has some small scratches, but the color is light and even. The imprints including the date code are clear. Mechanical pencil: The barrel has light scratching. The cone has some plating wear at both ends, and microscratching. The cap portion looks good, with mostly microscratching on the surface. The clip and clip ring have plating wear. The cap jewel has small surface marks, and really great color and pearlescence. Ships in Parker box, which has a fair bit of wear consistent with its age.
