Parker 61 mechanical pencil from the late 1950s, made in the United States. It is the black version with "Custom" 1/10 12k gold filled cap that has lengthwise lines and a pearlescent cap jewel from pre-1975. It takes 0.9mm leads and uses a twist mechanism. Very nice condition, working very well.

Manufacturer and Year  Parker, USA -- Late 1950s based off of the gold content.

Length  Just barely over 5 inches.

Filling System  It takes 0.9mm (or "thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. It extends and retracts leads well.

Color Custom cap, which is a 1/10 12k gold filled cap with a parallel lines pattern. The gold content is printed in a shield on the cap. The barrel is black. The rest of the trim is also gold filled. Pearlescent cap jewel. 

Condition  Very nice condition. The pearlescent cap jewel looks great. The pencil cone is brassed and there are some gouges in the plastic near the cone (see photo below). The cap imprint is easy to read and there are no dents in the cap. There are polishing marks and some plating wear on the clip. The eraser beneath the cap is easy to remove to access the lead reservoir.
