Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen in excellent working condition
Product Name Parker Duofold Quality "DQ" pen. This is from the era when the line was called "Black and Gold" and is often referred to as the "Black Line" by collectors. Because it is made of permanite, it is also part of the series people called the "Parker X." The "X" was marked on the larger nib sizes. The "X" would not have been on #2 nibs like the one installed in this pen.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, USA -- 1925-29, this is one of the bandless lined pens made of permanite.
Length 5" longer size.
Filling System The fountain pen is a button filler. It has been restored with a new sac.
Color Solid black pen with grouped lines pattern. It has no trim outside of the clip.
Nib Fine Semi-flexible 14k nib. It is smooth with some line variation. There's a hairline crack at the base of the nib that bis partly covered by the section. It takes a little pressure for the tines to spread, so you shouldn't try to press it further than the line variation seen in our writing sample below. It is a Parker Lucky Curve #2 nib with a C imprint and an "A" feed. The "A" generally stood for "accountant" and would have a narrower channel than other feeds.
Condition Excellent condition. There are no cracks (other than the one mentioned at the base of the nib) and it has a legible imprint. The patterning is perfect. There are some scratches near the blind cap on the lined part of the barrel. Part of the original sticker on the blind cap is intact. You can make out the "2.75" on it indicating that this pen was sold around 1928. The blind cap fits flush against the barrel. The pen has been fully restored and is working well.
