Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parkette (marked on the barrel), with a 1932 Parco nib.
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA - circa 1932-3. Parker introduced the Parco in 1932, as their first lever-filling pen, to compete with their corporate rival Sheaffer. In 1933, the Parkette model began to replace the Parco, with some subtle design changes in the pen body. Parker began using date codes on their pens in 1934 (honestly, so helpful!!), and this pen does not have a date code, so we suspect the cap and barrel were made in 1933, and the nib was just a bit earlier in 1932.
Length 4-3/4"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac, and it's working well.
Color Pearlized burgundy and black marbled finish, gold plated trim. Two sets of double cap bands, two near the lip of the cap and two above the clip.
Nib MEDIUM 14k Parco nib. Smooth with good tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a beautifully colored pen in a classic design. The cap and barrel have light to moderate microscratching. There are some additional scrapes near the top of the cap. The cap bands have brassing and some plating wear. The clip has brassing on the face and plating wear along the sides. The barrel has some marks from the cap lip. The lever bar has touches of brassing and small spots of plating wear at either end. The great color and marbling overcome the wear to a great extent and the pen looks shiny in hand. The imprints are clear.
