Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Major
Manufacturer and Year Parker, made in USA -- 1943 (there is a date code of 3 with three dots)
Length 5-1/16" long.
Filling System Vacumatic plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is working well. This has the late plastic plunger system.
Color Golden Pearl body and cap with gold plated trim. It has crosswise golden brown bands alternating with translucent amber bands. The cap has a black cap jewel and a chevron-patterned cap band just over 1/8" wide. It has a blue diamond clip.
Nib FINE 14k nib, verging on the extra fine. The feed is marked with an A for "accountant" - these nibs were firm and very fine, to ensure that the numbers were clear in accounting ledgers. A lot of the nib masking has been polished away.
Condition Excellent condition. The imprint on the barrel is slightly worn, especially on the right edge, but still readable. The barrel transparency is great. The pattern on the cap band is slightly worn, and there is brassing, especially around the lower edge. There is some moderate to heavy scratching near the top of the cap, as well as some tooth marks. The clip has plating wear along the edges and around the open end, and the tassie has tiny dents and dots of pitting. The cap jewel looks good. There is some heavier scratching near the end of the barrel and on the blind cap. The blind cap also has some tool marks. No cracks, chips, or dents. The pen has been restored and is working well.
