Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Maxima. The Maxima is the largest Vacumatic model, with a fatter barrel and cap and a bigger nib.
Manufacturer and Year Parker, Canada - 1939 (There is a 9 imprinted on the barrel. There might also be a single dot, but it's the wrong shape - short line rather than dot - so it could be a manufacturing artifact)
Length 5-5/16 inches (Maxima size).
Filling System Vacumatic speedline filler is in working condition. The filling system has been restored by us with a new diaphragm, and it has been tested. (We will guarantee the filling system for one year from purchase.)
Color Gray and black barrel and cap with ambered transparent horizontal lines; 1/4" Chevron style cap band; striped double jewels matching the pen's coloration on top of cap and at end of barrel. Split arrow clip.
Nib Medium 14k nib with a bit of flex. The feed is marked "W", indicating a wide feed channel, so you'll get good ink flow on this one. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a large-sized, beautifully colored, very shiny pen with ambered transparency through the barrel. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and some light scratch marks. The cap has light to moderate wear. Note that it is difficult to see blemishes on this pen because of the deep coloration. The silver colored trim pieces at the end of the barrel and at the top of the cap have plating wear as does the cap band (where the majority of the silver-colored plating has worn off, leaving it largely gold in appearance) and the bottom edge of the clip. The imprints are strong and easily read.
