Type fountain pen set
Product Name Parker Vacumatic Slender Junior, it is a bit shorter and slimmer than a Junior. There is also a Slender which is a slimmer Junior.
Manufacturer and Year Parker USA -- 1935 (The date code on the barrel is 45 and the date code on the pencil is 36. That means the pencil was made in 1936 and the pen was made in 1935. Lockdown systems were used approximately between 1932-37.)
Length Both measure 4-11/16".
Filling System Vacumatic aluminum lockdown plunger filling system has been restored here at Peyton Street Pens and is in excellent working condition. The bladder has been replaced and the pen has been tested. The pencil uses a twist mechanism and takes "thick" or 1.1mm leads. It is working well and extends and retracts the leads easily. An erasers can be found beneath the cap.
Color Windowed Black pen. It looks like the opaque black at some angles, but when held up to light and rotated, it has slotted transparent portions. The pencil is solid black. Both pieces have black jewels on the ends and two narrow cap bands. The trim is gold plated.
Nib EXTRA FINE 14k nib is a smooth writer and very firm. It is a very narrow nib. The nib would have originally been single tone
Condition Excellent + condition. The fountain pen barrel transparency is very strong and the transparent portions are yellow and not ambered. There are a few marks on the cap and a slight bulge on the barrel around the posting point. There is an additional mark near that bulge on the barrel. The pencil cap doesn't easily close all the way onto the barrel and the cap has bite marks. Both pieces have very little plating wear. The imprints are a little worn and much clearer on the pencil than the pen. The pen is personalized, "R. G. Obert."
