Product Description
Type Eyedropper fountain pen
Product Name Model name unknown
Manufacturer and Year Paul E. Wirt, USA, 1900-15. (Only the barrel is marked Wirt, we can't see an imprint on the nib.)
Length 5-5/16"
Filling System Eyedropper filler. We cleaned and tested it and it's working very well. We will send instructions and recommendations for usage as well as some silicone grease and an eyedropper.
Color Black hard rubber with a carved line near the cap lip as a design element. The hard rubber is smooth and not chased.
Nib Medium-fine very flexible nib. The tipping material is very good. We consider this a genuine "wet noodle nib" and we don't see more than one or two a year we're willing to designate thusly. It puts down very wet lines with strong line variation. See writing sample below. There are two very short tears on either side of the breather hole of the nib, so we caution against over-flexing. The feed is very flat with an opening that lines up with the breather hole. It is a #2 nib with no writing. There's an interesting bit of wear on the left side of the nib, as if it has been used with a ruler to draw lines.
Condition Superior condition, very shiny and smooth. No cracks. There is faint discoloration on the pen, with a little lightening where the pen was capped and where the pen cap was posted. The barrel imprint is easy to read.
