Product Description
Type Fountain pen with handmade elaborate silver overlay
Product Name Kane Boutry Pelikan M300. It's number 3 of 100, but we doubt that 100 of these were made or we'd see some evidence of their existance on the internet.
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan (Germany) for the pen and Kane Boutry (Canada) for the sterling overlay. The pen was made 1998-2003, based on the two-chick nib logo and two-chick cap logo.
Length 4-5/16", 4-13/16" with the hanger extended. Without the cap, the pen is just a hair over 4" long.
Filling System Piston filler. We have tested it and it's working perfectly.
Color Black pen underneath, with gold-plated trim. The extensive calla lily overlay is silver. According to our research, the pen by itself would weigh about 11 grams (~3/8 oz), and this pen weighs 48 grams (1.7 oz).
Nib MEDIUM 14k nib. Smooth and springy.
Condition Superior condition. This is a stunning little piece of artwork. The underlying pen was likely new before the artist added the overlay. The parts that we can clearly see - the section and piston knob - don't really have much wear or scratching. The silver overlay is gorgeous. There are small surface marks, all normal for silver. No box or paperwork.
Note that this is a small pen, and while the cap does fit over the piston knob, posting it would normally have the cap lip snug up against the last 1/8" or so of the barrel. Because the overlay covers the whole barrel, the cap wobbles a bit over the narrower diameter of the piston knob.
