Product Description
Type Fountain pen with handmade elaborate silver overlay
Product Name Kane Boutry "Scorpion" Pelikan M800. Marked "XP1" on the barrel, so we think this could be a prototype.
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan (Germany) for the pen and Kane Boutry (Canada) for the sterling overlay. The pen was made 1990-1997, based on the nib and cap logos.
Length 5-1/2".
Filling System Piston filler. We have tested it and it's working perfectly.
Color Black pen underneath, with gold-plated trim. The extensive scorpion-themed overlay is silver. According to our research, the pen by itself would weigh about 29 grams (just under 1 oz), and this pen weighs 72 grams (2.6 oz).
Nib OB - oblique broad 18k nib. Smooth and springy.
Condition Superior condition. This is a stunning piece of artwork. The underlying pen was likely new before the artist added the overlay. The parts that we can clearly see - the section and ink view window - don't really have much wear or scratching. The silver overlay is gorgeous. There are small surface marks, all normal for silver.
Note that this is a large and heavy pen. There is an overlay on the piston knob, so the cap does not post.
