Product Description
Type Multicolor ballpoint pen
Product Name 3 X 1
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan, Germany -- 1970s. We found some Pelikan catalogs from the 1970s and see this type of pen in catalogs during that period.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Takes small metal international ballpoint refills, formally designated "D1"; our friends at JetPens have some information on these here. There are three working refills installed. The pen mechanism works by choosing which color you want from the color windows at the top of the pen, rotating the pen so that the desired color faces upward, and then pushing down on the button.
Color Black barrel and knock, and a brushed stainless steel upper portion. Narrow shiny "cap band" with the Pelikan 3 x 1, Germany imprint.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a unique pen in a utilitarian design. The black barrel has moderate scratching. The brushed silver cap has light to moderate microscratching. The red viewing window has a small blotch of black on it. The clip has moderate microscratching and a microdots of plating wear. The black clicker has moderate microscratching and a few small, deep scratches. The pen works very well. The imprints are clear.
