Product Description
Type Fountain and ballpoint pen set.
Product Name Triari.
Manufacturer and Year Pelikan, made in Germany -- circa 1980s or 1990s.
Length Both pieces, fountain pen and ballpoint, are 5-3/8" long and slender. The outer profile is a slim cylinder, strongly resembling the Sheaffer TRZ or Slim Targa pens from the late 1970s through the 1990s.
Filling System Uses standard international cartridges or converters. We've installed a piston converter, and tested it with water and it's working well. If you want to use standard/short cartridge, you should be able to fit two in the barrel (in fact, according to the accompanying leaflet, you MUST always have two cartridges in the pen). The ballpoint takes Parker-style refills, and a blue Pelikan 337 refill is installed. The tip extends and retracts by twisting the top half.
Color The caps and barrels have a brown lacquered surface with a sort of honeycomb pattern on them. Black section on the fountain pen, and gold-plated trim.
Nib MEDIUM gold plated steel nib. There is still an "M" sticker on the cap.
Condition Excellent + condition, in box with paperwork. This is a slim, shiny pen set with a bit of late 20th century flair. Fountain pen: As far as we can tell, the fountain pen was never inked. The section has marks from capping. The lacquered surfaces have microscratching, but no chips or large scratches. The clip has some polishing marks and light tarnish on the face, and the sides have some scuff marks and slight brassing. The rest of the trim has microscratching and polishing marks; the Pelikan logo on the top of the cap looks great. Ballpoint pen: The lacquered surfaces have microscratching, and there is one tiny chip near the top of the cap. The clip has tarnish and some small spots of plating wear. There is plating wear on the tip of the cone. The Pelikan logo on the top of the cap looks great. The imprints are clear. Ships in a Pelikan Triari box, with some paperwork and an outer sleeve.
