Product Description
Type Combination lever filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil, restored and working well.
Product Name Twinpoint Combo Pen.
Manufacturer and Year Pen-O-Pencil Co., made in New York USA -- Probably 1930s.
Length 5-1/4-inches.
Filling System The fountain pen side is a lever filler which we have restored with a new sac. The pencil end takes 1.1mm (or "Thick") leads, which extend by twisting the cone. The mechanism extends leads but doesn't retract them and grips them loosely.
Color Complete gold filled overlay. The cap and middle of the barrel have grouped lengthwise lines. The pencil component and the pen section are smooth.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE 14k #2 nib. The tines spread just enough for line variation. See the writing sample below. The nib is marked Twinpoint New York.
Condition Very Nice condition. There are bite marks on the cap and several dents throughout including a few in the cartouche area around the personalization, "E.J.S." The beginning of the cone shape of the pencil part has round circles of wear. There is additional small areas of brassing throughout, but none of it is as visible as the circles near the cone. The imprint is a little difficult to read, but is fully intact. We've restored the pen part, and both it and the pencil mechanism are working very well.
