Product Description
Type Capless fountain pen -- the nib retracts like a ballpoint.
Product Name Vanishing Point.
Manufacturer and Year Namiki (Pilot), Japan -- 1994 (the nib is marked with A494). These Namiki branded VPs were made between 1994-9, so this is one of the first ones made.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Pilot cartridge or converter. A good CON-20 converter is installed.
Color Faceted black with silver colored trim. The black is smooth.
Nib MEDIUM 14k nib is smooth and somewhat firm with lovely tipping material. As a note, the Namiki vanishing point nib units are a bit shorter than the later Pilot ones.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dings, or dents. We often see these with cracks, so it's nice to get one that's clean! Handwear and microscratching. The knock has quite a few scratch marks. The clip looks nice. Note that the clip is a slightly different color than the rest of the trim - it's a little darker and is less shiny, but that is common in these early VPs. The imprints are clear. This is a classic unusual fountain pen design.
