Product Description
Type Capless fountain pen -- the nib retracts like a ballpoint.
Product Name Vanishing Point, "Carbonesque"
Manufacturer and Year Pilot (Namiki), made in Japan -- 2008 (the date code is A408 on the nib.)
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Pilot cartridge or converter. A piston converter is installed. There is a cartridge cover that we recommend using if you want to use a cartridge. It allows the clicker mechanism to work better.
Color "Carbonesque", known as "Kasuri" in Japan, is a lacquer with small interrupted dashes in an almost zig-zag pattern. The background lacquer is black so this is the Black Carbonesque version. The Carbonesque name comes from a visual similarity to carbon fiber whereas Kasuri comes from the fabric style the pattern mimics. The trim is rhodium plated.
Nib FINE 18k gold nib. The nib on this pen would have been rhodium masked originally, so this is an unused replacement nib from 2008.
Condition Near mint condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. We don't believe this pen has been inked. This is a shiny black pen with an intricate pattern on the cap and barrel and with a unique overall design. The cap and barrel are beautiful, shiny and the pattern is all intact. There is light microscratching on the cone, clip, and clicker. The imprints are clear.
