Product Name Platinum President
Manufacturer and Year Platinum, Japan -- Probably 1990s. The President is a current model but it has changed significantly and now is rounded. Platinum calls it its flagship model and it not surprising that over time the model has evolved.
Length 5-1/2"
Filling System Cartridge/converter filler. Comes with a Platinum converter, and it will also take Platinum cartridges.
Color Black with gold plated trim. It has a flat top and bottom and a slip cap. The newest version of this model has a screw on cap and rounded ends.
Nib FINE 22k nib. The Japanese character on the pen is "細" which means fine. This will write like a Western extra-fine. The nib size is labeled on the nib and on the sticker on the barrel.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is an elegant, shiny pen in a great color and with style. The cap has some light scratching, especially to the left of the clip. The barrel has microscratching. As far as we can tell, the pen was never inked. The cap band has etched on it, "President Platinum Japan" and it looks excellent. The clip has some tiny dots near the top that might be the beginning of pitting, as well as one small spot of plating wear along the left side and some brassing around the open end. The imprints are clear.
