Product Description
Type Fountain pen
Product Name 600 (2nd version, identified by less deep knurling than the first and third versions.). Not the Newton or Levenger version.
Manufacturer and Year Rotring, made in Germany (Though this pen isn't marked as to country of manufacture, it's our understanding that all true 600 pens were made in Germany, and only the pencil production occurred in Japan.)
Length 5-1/2".
Filling System Standard international cartrdiges and converters fit in this pen. A short "dummy" cartridge and a blue one are currently in the barrel, and we will include a converter in the box.
Color Matte black with red writing and a red trim band around the top of the cap.
Nib EXTRA-FINE steel nib. The top of the cap has a selector ring that allows you to display the nib size from multiple options. (Sadly, you can't just twist the knob and change the nib size - imagine the possibilities!)
Condition Near Mint condition, in original box. No cracks or chips, and hardly any marks anywhere. The nubs at the front of the barrel that align the cap are slightly shiny, but we don't really see any of the metal underneath, so it hasn't been capped and uncapped very often. Our inspection showed no signs that the pen has ever been inked. This is classic Rotring, an industrial-looking pen with a scientific aura. The red cap imprint and band are perfect. The imprints are clear. The original nib size sticker is on the end of the barrel. The plastic clamshell box (with red ring clasp!) is in great condition. The outer cardboard box - not the original one, as it's labelled for a silver pen with medium nib - is shopworn.
These pens are famous for developing cracks near the step down at the end of the barrel, and we can confirm this pen does not have that flaw.
