Product Description
Type Lever filling full sized fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Lifetime "Flat Top" fountain pen. There is a 61 stamped on the end of the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in U.S.A. -- early 1920s. The Lifetime models appeared in 1921; the cap with a straight clip marked "SHEAFFER-CLIP" were used before 1922.
Length A little under 5-5/8 inches.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black chased hard rubber with gold plated trim, a 1/4-inch cap band, and an early clip marked "Sheaffer-clip."
Nib FINE firm gold "Sheaffer's Lifetime Pen" nib is smooth and quite firm with nice tipping material.
Condition Excellent condition with one flaw: there is a crack in the cap lip, which is held in check by the cap band. There are some small marks and scratches on the cap and barrel, and a little brassing shows here and there on the trim. The clip has some plating wear around the top edge and on the ball end. The lever bar has brassing along the sides. The imprint is fairly clear and readable, and the chasing is quite clear. The pen has been fully restored and it's working well.
