Product Description
Type Lever filling fountain pen, restored and working well.
Product Name Balance 500, later called the "Milady" with the same size, nib, and pricing.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1934-35, based off of the color and clip.
Length 4-7/8 inches.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Red veins and gray pearl celluloid is marbled. It has thin gold plated trim.
Nib FINE 14k Sheaffer's Feathertouch nib is smooth with a nice quantity of tipping material. The nib is slightly springy.
Condition Excellent condition. The trim has brassing on the cap band and clip. The lever looks good. There are some cap marks on the barrel. The pen has been personalized, "Chester Haring," and there is a deep scratch on the "i". We did photograph it and you can see how perfectly it lines up with the letter. The imprint is clear and easily read and the viewing section has good transparency. There's one short crack on the cap clip which does not reach the cap band, but you will want to be careful posting so as not to aggravate this crack. We've fully restored the pen and it's working very well.
