Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name "Junior", from the Balance line (indicated by "Jr." on clip and nib, and the 275 imprint on the barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA - 1934-39 (this color was only made during that period).
Length 4-3/4".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. Filling system guaranteed for a year from the date of purchase.
Color Ebonized pearl (black with chunks of shiny pearl color floating in it) with chrome plated trim, a single cap band, and a flat ball humped clip.
Nib FINE gold Sheaffer's Junior nib. Very smooth, with excellent tipping material. The Junior nib is one of the few Sheaffer flexible nibs from this era, and the flex varies from nib to nib. We've included a writing sample below to demonstrate our experience with the pen. Not dramatic flex, but you do get line variation from fine to medium plus.
Condition Excellent condition. There is light to moderate scratching on cap and barrel. The cap band has brassing and plating wear. The clip has some scratching at the open end, and dots of plating wear. The section has a melty mark on it. There are marks on the barrel from the cap lip, as well as an area of scratching that's perpendicular to these. The lever bar has dots of plating wear. No cracks, or chips. The color does look quite nice, and you can still see some of the iridescence in the pearl portions. Ink viewing window is dark amber, but clear. The imprint is slightly worn, but still easily readable. It's fully restored and working well.
