Sheaffer Balance Oversized from the 1940s. This is the fattest of the Balance pens, a real handful! This version of the Balance has a flat clip, and is a vac-filler. Excellent condition, with a fine two-tone Lifetime nib that is firm and smooth.

Product Name Sheaffer Balance - Oversized

Manufacturer and Year  Sheaffer, USA -- 1940s, Carmine was introduced in 1939 and continued until the end of the Balance product line.

Length  5-3/4"

Filling System  Vacuum filler (vac-fil) filling system. It works with a piston and has been restored here at PSP.

Color Carmine color. It's a red marbled and black striated pattern. The darker stripes on the barrel are a semi-transparent yellow. It has gold filled trim and the white dot above the clip.

Nib  14k Sheaffer two-tone fine nib. It's a firm and large nib. The silver color on the nib is slightly worn off. (Please note that we'd normally expect to find a Lifetime nib on this model. instread we have a very large two tone nib with a serial number.)

Condition  Excellent + condition. No serious scratches and no cracks, chips, or bite marks. The barrel transparency is good and the imprint is crisp. There's some early stage plating wear on the sides of the clip and close to the point of contact between the cap and the clip.

Domestic US Shipping Policy: For the most part, shipping to US addresses is free and is made via first class mail.

International Shipping PolicyInternational shipping is based on weight, and we give you a choice (depending on country) of first class, first class registered, priority mail or express delivery (only Express Mail provides true tracking). Internatonal shipments valued at over $40 come with free insurance, unless that service is not available for your specific country. Most of our customers opt for the very reasonably priced first class mail method, which can take anywhere from one to four weeks. We are happy to discuss alternatives to the options currently offered during the checkout process, so please contact us if you'd like a quote.

Most countries charge customs fees on shipments from the United States, but this is not something we can estimate and there is no way to pay these fees in advance.
