Product Description
Type Vintage oversized fountain pen in restored working condition
Product Name Balance Lifetime
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in Canada -- 1930-31 (the long humped clip was phased out in 1931 and the color was introduced in 1930).
Length 5-7/8" extra long and quite stout. We have found these oversized Balances can vary quite a bit in length, and this one is just about the longest we see.
Filling System Lever filler - we've restored it with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Black and pearl with a 1/8" cap band. Black pearl is a pattern of black and pearlized marble. Gold plated trim and white dot. It has a long humped clip.
Nib FINE gold Sheaffer Lifetime nib.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a very large, shiny pen, in a desirable color pattern. Most of the "pearls" have some level of ambering but the color hues look nice and there is lots of pearlization. The barrel has mainly light wear with a few long, thin scratch marks. The cap has moderate wear and one cluster of marks to the far right of the clip end. The cap band has moderate microscratching, mainly along the top and bottom edges. The clip has plating wear on the ball end as well as a tiny area along the top edge of the clip. There are also small nicks and scratches on the clip face. The white dot looks great. The imprints are clear.
