Type Vintage lever filling oversized fountain pen.
Product Name Balance Lifetime (this is an oversized model and very fat, however it is shorter than most oversized Balances).
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1935-42 (those were the years they made the Balance in this color and with this clip).
Length 5-3/16". The pen has a rather fat barrel, but is quite a bit shorter than a regular oversize. We've included a comparison picture of this pen with a regular oversize Balance that is 5-9/16" long to highlight the difference in length.
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working perfectly.
Color Jet Black with gold plated trim, a 1/8" wide cap band, and a radius style clip.
Nib MEDIUM gold Lifetime nib. It's smooth and firm.
Condition Excellent overall condition. The cap and barrel have light to moderate scratching. The lever has brassing and plating wear around the edges. The cap band has scratches and some moderate scuffs. The clip has some plating wear around the edges of the ball. No cracks. The imprints are clear.
