Product Name Balance Lifetime set. Circa 1938, pens got model names and this one would be "Premier." This is the fat oversized model.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1936-42 (those were the years they made the Balance in this color and with this clip).

Filling System Vacuum or "Vac-fil" filling system. We've replaced the seals and it's working well. Pencil takes "thin" 0.9mm leads.
Color Golden brown celluloid lengthwise strips alternating with yellow transparent lengthwise strips. It has a white dot above the clip and the radius clip. The cap band is 1/8" wide.
Nib EXTRA-FINE gold nib. It's smooth and firm. It says Sheaffer Lifetime on it. It has a serial number: 4763608
Condition Excellent + condition, in box, with original price sticker. This is a beautifully colored set in a classic design. The fountain pen is in excellent condition, with light wear on the cap and barrel. The barrel has nice transparency. It has marks caused by the cap lip. The cap band has very light wear and some tarnish along the edges, with just one small dot of brassing. The clip has a bit of plating wear at the end. The white dot is excellent. The mechanical pencil is near mint with just some microscratching (but not a lot). The box has a few little smudgy marks on the top but it is a good, solid, hard box. The imprints on both the pen and pencil are clear.
