Product Description
Type Fountain Pen
Product Name Crest is the model upon which this pen is based. We believe that this was made by a French jeweler due to the French hallmark denoting 18k gold.
Manufacturer and Year The nib is Sheaffer USA, probably from the 1970s. We're not sure who made the rest of the pen, but we know it's not one-of-a-kind since we have seen another just like it.
Length 5-3/8" capped
Filling System The pen takes Sheaffer-style blunt end cartridges, and we have installed a button converter. The barrel cannot accomodate the longer piston or squeeze converter.
Color 18 karat gold barrel (marked 18C) and cap with a lined design. It has a black section. There is an eagle's head hallmark that indicates that the pen was made in France and has a minimum guarantee of 18k gold. There are also hallmarks on the clip.
Nib Fine two-toned conical style nib. This one is the later short version of the famous Triumph nib. It says "Sheaffer's Made in the USA" on the nib. We do not think this is 14k, it's probably a masked steel nib.
Condition Excellent + condition with no dents. The pen is pretty and shiny, with light signs of usage throughout (visible to the eye). The section has some scratch lines. The clip has light scratching but looks very nice. The imprints are clear.
We know from the eagle's head 18k hallmark that the pen was made in France. There is another diamond-shaped mark, likely a jewelry maker's mark, that should give us information about who made the pen, but we can't see it well enough to decode it.
