Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen
Product Name 3C. It's not labeled as such, but this matches our understanding of the numbering scheme that Sheaffer used for these early flat top models.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, USA -- 1910s. The clip and imprint marks it as one of the earlier Flat Top models.
Length 5-7/16" .... full length and slender
Filling System Lever filler - working perfectly with a good sac, just replaced here at Peyton Street Pens.
Color Black chased hard rubber. Nickel trim.
Nib FINE Sheaffer's #3 Self-Filling gold nib is in excellent condition. Short hairline crack coming down from the breather hole, so the nib should not be over-flexed. Modest flexibility.
Condition Excellent condition. There is microscratching and handwear on the cap and barrel. The chasing pattern is smoothed down on the barrel, though the shadows are still visible. The lever has brassing at either end, and some pitting on the face. The clip has brassing around the upper edge, and splotches of brassing on the ball end. The imprints are quite worn, but still somewhat readable.
