Product Name Sheaffer Flat-Top, model 37. We see this model in Sheaffer catalogs between 1913-18.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA – mid to late 1910s.
Length 5-3/8"
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Gold-filled filigree overlay on black hard rubber. The catalogs say that the filigree is 18k gold-filled.
Nib Fine flexible #2 nib. Soft feeling, with line variation from fine to broad. Please see writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. The lever has plating wear on the open end. The filigree overlay has various scratches and marks, as well as brassing and plating wear along the open. The edge nearest the section has brassing all around. There is brassing around the cap lip and a strip of plating loss on the smooth "band" portion. The clip has brassing and plating wear. The top of the cap has brassing and plating wear. The imprint is clear.
