Type vintage fountain pen
Product Name Sheaffer "Flat Top" (The nib and white dot indicate that the pen was a Lifetime model.)
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, USA -- 1924-26, based off of the D imprint at the end of the barrel. The D indicates that the pen is made of DuPont radite. Radite was introduced in 1924, and the imprints specifying radite producer ceased circa 1926.
Length 4-1/2"
Filling System Lever filler, restored with a new sac and working perfectly.
Color Smooth black with gold filled trim. The cap has a 1/8" wide cap band.
Nib MEDIUM-FINE 14k Lifetime nib is large, firm, and smooth.
Condition Excellent condition. The barrel has light scratching and some small surface marks. The lever has some plating wear at the pivot end. The cap has a few subtle, shallow dents or bite marks near the upper and lower edges. The cap band has some brassing along the edges. The clip has brassing on the ball end, and plating wear along the sides and on the top edge. The pen is fully restored and working well.
The cap band is personalized with "W W JOHNSON".
