Product Description
Type High end fountain pen.
Product Name Nostalgia - model No. 802
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, USA -- they started making this model in 1992.
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Takes Sheaffer cartridges or converters. A squeeze converter is included, and a couple of cartridges are included in the box.
Color Sterling silver-etched floral pattern. This pen is solid 925 sterling except for the upper barrel and the section, which are black plastic.
Nib MEDIUM 14k Sheaffer's nib is smooth with nice tipping material. The back of the section is marked with an "M". Fairly firm and smooth. (see note below)
Condition Near mint condition. The cap and barrel have some light tarnishing and patina, though in hand the pen is quite shiny and beautiful. No dents or dings. It's working very well. Ships in fabric covered clamshell box with a polishing cloth, a small box that contains some cartridges, and an outer Nostalgia cardboard box.
Note: this pen was originally a rollerball pen, but we've upgraded it and converted it to a fountain pen. There's a really great write-up on the Sheaffer Nostalgia model, which shows that the 802 fountain pen model would have originally come with a two-toned 18k nib engraved with scrollwork. The nib here is from Nostalgia models made in 1980-88.
