Product Description
Type Snorkel fountain pen and pencil set
Product Name Sentinel Snorkel Set in a hard-to-find color
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in U.S.A. -- 1952-59.
Length Pen is 5-9/16", pencil is 5-1/16"
Filling System The fountain pen is a snorkel filler, which is working very well after we restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. The pencil takes 0.9mm leads which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. It's working well, and we'll include a small pack of leads.
Color Vermillion bodies with chrome plated caps and gold plated trim. This is one of the six colors considered most collectible.
Nib EXTRA-FINE 14k gold Sheaffer's Triumph style nib (marked X5) is smooth and firm with nice tipping material. The nib has a gentle "Waverly" upturn, not dramatic.
Condition Excellent + condition, in bronze colored box, with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a brightly colored, very shiny set that makes a statement. Both pieces have excellent and consistent color. The fountain pen barrel has light to moderate scratching. The cap has light scratching, but no dents or dings. The cap band and clip look fantastic. The mechanical pencil has light scratching on the barrel. The cap has microscratching and some little dents at the very tip. The cone, cap band and clip are beautiful. The white dots on both pieces are perfect. The imprints on both pieces are clear.
