Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen with Snorkel filling system.
Product Name Sheaffer Statesman Snorkel.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in USA -- 1952-59.
Length Just under 5-5/8" capped
Filling System Snorkel filler with an angled snorkel tube. The cut on the end of the tube is based off of the nib. We've fully restored it with a new sac, O-ring, and point gasket. Works very well.
Color Black body and cap with gold plated trim and a 3/8" cap band with simple carved border. This would have been called "Jet Black."
Nib Medium Sheaffer's palladium silver nib. Smooth with nice tipping material. Quite firm. It is marked "M4" which matches the nib size and the material.
Condition User grade condition. The pen is a nice black and the trim has few spots of wear. Very little handwear. There are some small marks on the barrel right where it meets the cap when capped. Though it looks quite nice, we have downgraded it due to a long crack beneath the clip. We photographed it. There are two chips in the material where the clip end makes contact with the cap and the crack has caused the clip to be a little loose. The crack doesn't go through the inner cap liner so it will not dry out the pen when inked.
