Product Description
Type Snorkel filling fountain pen and mechanical pencil set, working well.
Product Name Statesman Snorkel fountain pen and pencil set. Possibly a Valiant, though this is not a known color for that model, but it could be a Canadian variation.
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer, made in Canada - 1952-9.
Length The pen is 5-5/8-inches, the pencil is just over 5 inches.
Filling System Snorkel filling pen. We've restored it with a new sac, point gasket and o-ring, and we'll send instructions on how to use this filling system. The pencil takes 0.9mm (or "Thin") leads, which it extends via the traditional twist mechanism. Both pen and pencil are working very well.
Color Sage Green with gold plated trim, 3/8-inch wide cap bands, and white dots above the clips. Sage Green is one of the moderately hard-to-find colors.
Nib MEDIUM two-tone Triumph 14k nib. It's smooth and firm with excellent tipping material. The masking is in good condition. (see note below for more info on this)
Condition Excellent + condition. We've restored the pen with a new sac, new o-ring, new gasket, and cleaned and tested it, and it's working perfectly. No cracks or chips, dings, dents, bitemarks or personalization. The imprints are quite clear and readable on both pen and pencil. Both the pencil and the pen are working very well.
Note: the Statesman model originally came with a PdAg (palladium-silver) nib; this 14k nib is an upgrade from that. The 14k nib would usually place this as a Valiant model, but the Valiant was produced in Pastel Green or Fern, not Sage. We are confident of the color identification, so we consider this to be a Statesman with an upgraded nib or an undocumented version of the Valiant.
