Product Description
Type Modern commemorative limited edition fountain pen based on a look from the 1920s. Serial #3798 of 6000 is engraved on the barrel.
Product Name W. A. Sheaffer Commemorative
Manufacturer and Year Sheaffer USA - 1995 (released in 1996)
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Lever-filler. It's a unique design in that the lever interacts with a squeeze converter in the barrel. The section is force fit and the lever lines up with the press bar on the filling system. DO NOT REMOVE OR TRY TO UNSCREW THE SECTION, YOU WILL PREVENT THE PEN FROM FILLING.
Color Gold - there's an elaborate scrollwork pattern engraved into the full overlay. The body of the pen is made of brass, which was nickel-plated, and then 23k gold electroplated. The section is black. White Dot model.
Nib MEDIUM 18k gold two-toned Sheaffer nib. The nib is in excellent condition and very smooth.
Condition Near mint in box. Our inspection turned up no signs that the pen was ever inked. We see only very light microscratching on the shiny gold parts. There's no dents, dings, scratches, or scuffs. The White Dot looks perfect. The pen is housed in an elaborate cherry box, with a brass inset that is engraved with an image from W. A. Sheaffer's patent application. A bottle of Skrip ink is also present, as is a booklet documenting the model. The serial number is also noted in the booklet as well as on the outer cardboard sleeve. This is a gorgeous modern pen and a fine tribute to the vintage overlay style pens.
