Product Description
Type Fountain pen made from slim kit pen components and a vintage Sheaffer nib.
Product Name Unknown maker
Manufacturer and Year This is a nicely made kit pen, made by a pen turner using kit components.
Length 5-1/2". The pen posts well by screwing the cap onto the end of the barrel, and the resulting pen is a little over 6".
Filling System Cartridge/converter filler. A piston converter is installed in the pen.
Color The barrel and cap are made of a solid purple sleeve over brass. The end piece is black. There is gold trim at the end of the barrel, a double gold cap band embedded in black, and a gold clip and clip ring. The section is black.
Nib Fine Sheaffer Feather Touch two-tone 14k nib from the Balance era (1930s-40s). The feed isn't an original Sheaffer feed, it looks like it came with the section so that the pen could function as a cartridge/converter model. The ink flows very well.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a slim, elegant pen. It would be difficult to see scratches; it appears as if there are none on the cap or barrel. The black end piece on the barrel and top piece of the cap have some microscratching. The triple gold bands at the end of the barrel have a few dot size scratches and very light microscratches. The cap band has two small blotches of plating wear. The left edge of the end of the clip has plating wear. There is no imprint.
