Product Description
Type Vintage eye dropper fountain pen, working well.
Product Name Unknown, though we have had similar pens in the past and one was marked "Regal". It has a 14k Warranted 1st Quality nib. This is similar to pens made by Parker and others, which combined a mother of pearl panel barrel and a filigree cap. Though the unthreaded slip cap fits the barrel, there's no guarantee these pens weren't made by different manufacturers.
Manufacturer and Year Unknown maker, the pen is not marked, but we've seen similar styles of pens from The Regal Company, probably made in the 1910s or '20s.
Length a little under 5-1/4 inches.
Filling System Eye dropper filler. We've cleaned and tested it. We'll include a handout on using this type of filling system, and an eyedropper kit.
Color Black hard rubber. The cap has a gold plated cut-out overlay, and the barrel has two decorative gold-plated rings and an overlay of mother-of-pearl that's about 1-1/2" wide. The metal is not marked.
Nib FINE FLEXIBLE Warranted 14k 1st Quality gold nib is smooth. It flexes easily from fine to a broad or double broad with light pressure. Please see our writing sample in the photos.
Condition Very nice condition. No cracks, chips, or personalization. The cap overlay has a lot of brassing in the filigree patterning. The barrel bands also have a fair bit of brassing. The pearly portion of the barrel is very pretty, though there is some scratching and spaces in between the faceted panels. The black hard rubber is faded quite a bit. The pen is working very well, and has a really lovely nib.
