Product Description
Type Mechanical pencil with a filigree overlay
Product Name unknown
Manufacturer and Year Probably made by Victor Pens, NY, circa 1920s? We found a thread on FPN with a pen that has an overlay matching this one quite nicely. The clip on that pen has the same unusual styling at the top.
Length 4-5/8" long
Filling System 1.1mm lead fits in the pencil, though it seems like something a tiny bit thicker would also fit. We just don't have anything else to actually try! The tube that holds the lead is also not very deep, and we could only get a piece of lead about 1" long to fit in there (the Autopoint 1.1mm leads that we used are 1-3/8" long, so we have to break it off). The top half of the pencil screws off to reveal an eraser.
Color Black with gold-plated filigree overlay.
Condition Excellent condition. There is light handwear and scratching all over. The overlay has scratching and brassing. The very top of the pencil has some cracks, but there are no chips or missing pieces there. The clip has brassing around the top, and most of the ball end is brassed. The cone has light scratching, but looks good.
