Product Description
Type Vintage telescoping mechanical pencil, meant to hang from a lady's chatelaine.
Product Name Unknown
Manufacturer and Year Unknown, probably made around the 1900s or 1910s. There's what appears to be an acorn symbol after the "Sterling Silver" imprint, but we are not sure who made the piece. Gorham used an acorn as an imprint in 1924, but we think this pencil is earlier than that.
Length About 2-1/4" fully retracted, and 4" fully extended + ring top
Filling System You simply pull the ring top to extend the whole of the pencil, and then you can extend the lead by turning the cone-piece. We measured the lead in the pencil to be 1.86mm.
Color Sterling silver. Imprinted with words "STERLING SILVER" (see picture). This heavy spiral pattern is often called "Snail."
Condition Excellent condition. There is a scratch and some wear, but it's looking really nice, and working very well too.
