Product Description
Type Vintage fountain pen
Product Name Gregg shorthand pen, from the Gregg logo in the top of the cap. There is some interesting history of Gregg shorthand pens at Richard Binder's site, and one of the first pens pictured looks very much like this pen. Unfortunately, the Gregg nib had to be swapped out.
Manufacturer and Year Wahl, USA, circa 1920s
Length 5-1/8"
Filling System Lever filler, restored with a new sac. Working well and guaranteed for one year from date of purchase.
Color Hard rubber in a red woodgrain pattern commonly called rosewood. Gold filled trim. Black section.
Nib MEDIUM FLEXIBLE Wahl #2 14k nib. This nib replaced the original Gregg Shorthand nib. Please see writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks. This is a dark rosewood pen that has a lovely polished woodgrain appearance. The barrel is faded as evidenced by the darker color under the cap lip. Otherwise, the barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and a few very small scratches. The lever has plating wear in the center. The cap has some bite-type marks at the top that include the gold clip band. The double cap band has plating wear and moderate microscratching. The clip has light plating wear on the rollerball end. The clip band is rough, with some pitting, plating wear and bite marks. The imprints at the top of the cap are faint. The Gregg logo on top of the cap looks good.
