Product Description
Type Vintage vacumatic filling fountain pen.
Product Name Doric I
Manufacturer and Year Wahl Eversharp, USA -- 1930s
Length 4-7/8"
Filling System Vacumatic (piston) filler. This was called the "One shot" vacuum filling system by Eversharp and is modeled after the Sheaffer vac-fil system. We've restored the filling system in-house and it's working very well. We'll guarantee it for one year, though we expect it to last reliably for much longer.
Color They called this striped green marble finish "Green Shell." It has a large viewing area with a wired or "reticulated" pattern. Gold filled trim with a 1/8" cap band.
Nib MEDIUM 14k Wahl Signature Pen nib. Some give, but not enough to yield any line variation.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks on the cap lip, which isn't commonly seen on the Doric I pens due to the unprotected cap lip. The green color is great as is the transparency of the viewing section. There is brassing and some plating wear around the edges of the clip. The cap band also has brassing and plating wear. The cap has some shallow bite marks at the top. The barrel has light to moderate scratching. There are some scratches on the piston knob and at the end of the barrel. The color of the "shell" material at the end of the barrel is more yellowed than the cap, but we don't see any crystallization or crazing here. The cap imprint is faded, but readable. No cracks, chips, or dents. The pen is fully restored and working well.
