Color Red Tamamushi-nuri - a technique developed in Sendai, Japan. The surface is covered in silver powder, and then layers of urushi lacquer are built up over it, yielding a rich, shimmering finish that resembles the Jewel Beetle after which it's named. Gold-plated clip and cap band. Black cap jewel.
Nib Fine gold-plated nib, marked "Milus Iridium Pen."
Condition New from Old Stock, in Box. The surface has a lovely shimmering red urushi finish. The pen's cap has a gold-plated clip and cap band, marked with "R14" or "R14K", which we believe means 14k rolled gold plated. Very slight brassing on the clip edges. The cap band looks really good. The lever has small dots of plating wear on the edges. Some of the masking is worn off of the nib's surface. The imprint is slightly faded, but still readable.
The Wancher stationery store in Japan released a very limited number of these pens in 2021, all of which were made from parts sourced from the collection of a collector in their country. Each pen is unique, and built by hand individually. On this pen, the barrel of the pen is imprinted with "Navy - The Ohmi Yoko Co, Made in Japan", so we know that at least some of the parts come from a "Navy Pen" made by the Ohmi Yoko company in the 1970s.
