Product Name Model 0552 (gold filled cap and barrel, lever filler - it's not marked, but it has the characteristics of this model)
Manufacturer and Year Waterman USA - circa 1920s
Length 5-7/16" long.
Filling System Lever filler (We have restored the bladder and it works very well.). We guarantee the filling system for one year from date of purchase.
Color All engraved gold filled overlay, over hard rubber (the hard rubber is only seen on the section, barrel lip and barrel end). The barrel and cap are covered with slender panels that are smooth and shiny, alternating with engraved panels with the floral (leaf and stem) design. The gold fill looks reddish when compared to regular yellow gold overlay, so it might be rose gold.
Nib Fine flexible Waterman's Ideal #2 nib. The range is extra-fine or fine to broad. It has a good amount of flex, but not super flex or a not a wet noodle. This is one we consider almost full flex. Please see writing sample.
Condition Excellent condition. No cracks or chips. The barrel overlay has plating wear along the edges near the section and at the end of the barrel, and areas of brassing throughout. It has microscratching and some micro-dots of pitting here and there. The lever has brassing and some small dots and streaks of pitting. The cap has scratching, as well as areas of plating wear. The top edge of the cap has plating wear and denting. The clip has brassing and plating wear, especially around the edges and on the ball end. The imprints near the end of the barrel (on the hard rubber piece there) is faded, but legible. The rest of the imprints, on the gold overlay, are clear.
