Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully and has a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 412-1/2 - not marked, but it matches those characteristics from the Waterman numbering system. The 4 indicates that cap and barrel are overlaid with silver, 1 means that it's a slip-fit eyedropper type, and 2 is the nib size. The 1/2 suffix indicates that it's a slender version.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman USA - circa 1920s
Length 5-1/4"
Filling System Eyedropper filler
Color The barrel and cap are covered with a cut out sterling filigree design that is etched.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE nib is marked Waterman's Ideal Reg US Pat Off. It's got a nice flex to it, not quite what we call "full flex" but close. Line variation from fine to broad plus. See the writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition, quite beautiful. No cracks or chips, but there are small marks and dings in the filigree, especially on the top of the cap (see photos). There are a few scratches on the section. The imprints in the sterling are good and readable. It's a gorgeous piece, despite its wear, and it is working very well.
Engraved on the barrel are the initials "EAC" (see photos for detail).
