Product Description
Type | Safety pen with an accomodation clip |
Product Name | 44 (marked on the end of the barrel). This is one of the Continental Overlay pens, which have basic hard rubber safety pens which were enhanced in Europe (usually France or Italy) with metal overlays. |
Manufacturer and Year | Waterman - 1920s. The accomodation clip is marked Waterman France, so we guess the overlay was probably French too. (The hallmarked are too small to read.) |
Length | 4-7/8" |
Filling System | Safety filler (thoroughly restored and tested, with new seals) |
Color | Smooth black hard rubber with an overlay of gold filled or rolled gold metal in a ribbed design. |
Nib | Waterman Ideal New York flexible nib in fine. Full flex, but not a wet noodle. Good tipping material evident from both the top and the bottom. |
Condition |
Very nice condition and working well, however there is a lot of wear to the gold surfaces and a crack in the cap lip. The crack does not extend as far as the threads which are necessary to seal the barrel when not in use. Some browning of the hard rubber. The nib is in excellent condition. The nib extends and retracts as it should, and the pen does not leak. |
