Product Description
Type Vintage pen
Product Name Model 5, marked on the purple disk at the end of the barrel.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Made in USA -- 1930s
Length 5"
Filling System Lever filler. We replaced the bladder and it works very well.
Color Black celluloid. There is a purple disk at the end of the barrel, which identifies the nib. It has a patterned cap band measuring over 1/8".
Nib FIRM FINE gold Waterman's Ideal "Purple" nib. It's in near mint condition with good tipping, and feels smooth on paper. It's very firm with absolutely no line variation. The "Purple" nib was labeled originally as a stiff fine nib "designed for pressureless writing; a good accounting nib."
Condition Superior condition. There is some brassing on the lever tab and the very top of the clip, but overall the nickel plating has held up very well. The pen has handwear and some microscratching. The disk at the end of the barrel is almost perfect, and clearly identifies the #5 model number, as well as clearly showing the "purple" nib. The Waterman barrel imprint is slightly worn, but still quite clear and easy to read.
