Product Description
Type Vintage pen that works beautifully.
Product Name Model 5 (inscribed on barrel end, this is the later version of the #5 pen, in celluloid).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, Canada -- circa 1940s.
Length Just under 5 inches.
Filling System Lever filler (we've replaced the ink sac and the system works very well).
Color Black celluloid cap and barrel, gold-plated trim. The BHR section is mildly discolored from age.
Nib The nib is marked "Waterman's 14 CT. NW5". It is flexible and medium with good ink flow and excellent tipping. See writing sample below.
Condition Very nice condition. The nib is in excellent shape with no scratches or cracks and plenty of tipping material. The gold-plated trim is very good. The clip is straight, tight, and close to the barrel with brassing only on the shoulders/sides. The cap band is tight and largely free of brassing with clear engraving. The lever and lever box have little brassing except on edges, inscribed "PAT. OCT 17-16." There is deformation due to shrinkage in the cap, some fairly noticeable scratches on the cap and barrel (thread marks where cap screws on), and two gouges in the section. The maker's imprint is complete legible. But no cracks or chips and good impression overall. The filling system is working well, and we'll guarantee it for a year.
