Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling ringtop fountain pen and mechanical pencil set. Pen has a flexible nib.
Product Name Model 52 1/2 V (marked on the end of the pen barrel).
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in Canada -- c. 1925. Both nib and barrel are marked.
Length The pen is 4-1/4" long (excluding the ringtop hardware). The pencil is 3-3/8".
Filling System The fountain pen is a lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well. Filling system guaranteed for one year from date of purchase. The pencil takes 1.1mm leads, which extend and retract by twisting the nose cone, however the leads only go in about a half an inch and are only loosely held in place, though they don't fall out.
Color Red ripple hard rubber with gold plated trim and a 1/8 inch wide cap band.
Nib FLEXIBLE MEDIUM-FINE Waterman's Ideal nib. See our writing sample in the photos below.
Condition Excellent condition with no cracks, chips, dents, or dings. This is a small, dainty set that has a lovely red/black ripple surface. The fountain pen cap and barrel have moderate scratching. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip. The lever has light scratching. The cap band has moderate microscratching. The mechanical pencil has moderate scratching with a few bite marks on the red ripple area of the cone and brassing on the gold plated portion of the cone. The cap band has light microscratching. The ring top mounts on both pieces are dark; the rings look very good. The imprints on both pieces are a little worn down but readable.
