Product Description
Type Vintage Fountain Pen
Product Name Waterman 52, as labeled on the bottom of the pen.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1920s.
Length 5-5/16"
Filling System Lever Filler. It has been restored with a new sac and it's working well.
Color Black chased hard rubber (BCHR) with nickel trim.
Nib FLEX STUB nib is marked Waterman's Ideal 2. It is nicely flexible and wet with a good ink flow, not quite that we'd call full flex, because it starts with a fat line, but definitely wet and smooth. The tines spread quite easily. See the writing sample below.
Condition Superior condition. No cracks or chips. The color of the barrel is quite dark; the cap has a bit of fading. The chasing on both barrel and cap is strong. The imprint is quite strong, very even and almost crisp. The nickel plating looks good on the lever box, and there's just a bit of brassing on the sides of the lever. The clip looks good, with just a bit of brassing on the underside of the ball end.
