Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Commando (it's marked on the barrel). This model was one step down in size from the standard Hundred Year Pen, and otherwise quite similar to the later Hundred Year Pens.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- early 1940's.
Length 5-1/8".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Brown with gold plated trim and two thin cap bands. The brown looks a lot like burgundy in bright lighting. In the photos they look like a very dark black like brown but natural lighting reveals the red.
Nib FLEXIBLE FINE Waterman's Ideal 14k nib is quite large. It's smooth with nice tipping material. It's flexible, with line variation from fine to a nice larger broad with a little pressure. Not full flex, but close and great for every day writing. See our writing sample below.
Condition Excellent condition with some minor scratching on the cap and barrel. The imprint is clear and sharp. The gold trim has very minimal brassing. There is a some wear on the clip and it stands a bit (1/16") away from the cap. There is some wear on the cap bands, and one is a little loose. No cracks or chips, dings or dents, personalization.
