Product Description
Type Vintage pen which works beautifully
Product Name Commando.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, USA -- 1940s
Length 5-1/8"
Filling System Lever filler (We have replaced the bladder and it works very well.)
Color Amber brown barrel and cap. We believe that this originally had an amber celluloid barrel end piece, but that it has crystallized and someone attempted to replace or repair it. The repair is a bit clumsy and we were told that there are garnets incorporated into it. Garnets come in many more colors than the deep red that's usually associated with the name, and this one seems to have some orange and purple-red varieties. The section is black, and the trim is gold-plated.
Nib Medium Rigid Waterman's Ideal 14k gold nib.
Condition Excellent condition. Other than the above-mentioned weird end piece, there are no cracks or chips or serious scratches. There is some plating wear on the sides of the clip. The rivet in the top that secures the clip is brassed. The cap bands have microscratching and some touches of brassing. The lever has plating wear along the sides, but the face and the housing look good. The imprint is very good. This pen writes very smoothly. The filling system is working well, and we guarantee it for a year from the date of purchase.
