Product Description
Type Vintage lever filling fountain pen.
Product Name Commando (it's marked on the barrel). This model was one step down in size from the standard Hundred Year Pen, and otherwise quite similar to the later Hundred Year Pens and Emblem pens. We think the cap came from a Medalist model, associated with the Emblem model. Both cap and barrel are threaded.
Manufacturer and Year Waterman, made in USA -- early 1940's.
Length 5-1/4".
Filling System Lever filler. We've restored it with a new sac and it's working very well.
Color Black with gold plated trim and 7/16" wide cap band with a ridge pattern on the top and bottom.
Nib MEDIUM FLEXIBLE Waterman's 14k Ideal Nib. Please see writing sample.
Condition Excellent + condition with no cracks, chips, dents or dings. This is a velvety black, shiny pen with an especially lovely and wide cap band. The barrel has marks caused by the cap lip and some long light scratches near the end. The majority of the barrel looks fantastic -- dark, shiny, and clean. The cap has very light scratching. The lever has a bit of plating wear along the side pieces and at the end of the lever but it looks great overall. The wide cap band is beautiful. The clip has some microscratching. The top gold piece is lovely. The imprints are clear.
